Secondhand Sports

Its time to start thinking about Softball & Baseball!

Secondhand Sports has been working hard all winter collecting equipment and cleaning it. The time has finally arrived and we will be distributing it to the players who are in need of it this month and next month. There are no stipulations on this, it is here for any area players at no charge. We have everything you will need to get ready for the season. So come on over and see us!

March 13th ~ 1:00- 4:00 at the Cube
March 20th ~ 9:00- 1:30 at Faith Academy
April 17th ~ 10:00- 12:30 at the Softball Fields at Jacobs School.

We will also continue to make equipment available as the Spring & Summer goes by. So if kids out grow or misplace things just drop us an email or call. We will accommodate you as best we can to get you the equipment!

We also have one last drop off scheduled for March 16th at the F.O.P. Lodge from 6:30-8:30.  We will still continue to except donations after this point, but you will need to contact us.

We would like to thank everybody in the community, that has donated equipment. It has been wonderful to see all the people who have been willing to help!

Thanks
Secondhand Sports

NWO Pump n Go 5K

Our 2nd Annual NWO Pump n Go 5K is just around the corner.  If you remember from last year, this event benefits both the athletes of local participating schools and their athletic booster clubs.  This year’s event date is Saturday, March 20, 2010.  Last year we distributed nearly $3,000 in proceeds to booster clubs.

There will be two distinct events.  There will be a traditional 5K road race to be held at the Findlay Evangelical Free church on County Road 236.  There is also the “Pump n Go” competition again held at Northwest Ohio Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.  If you are unfamiliar with the Pump n Go, it is an event that, based on age and sex, will determine how much a participant must bench press.  For example, and you can refer to the Schwarzenegger Pump and Run event at: http://arnoldsportsfestival.com/pdf/2009/2009_5k.pdf, a 17 year old boy must bench press 100% of his body weight.  Each legal repetition, as determined by the bench press judges, will subtract 30 seconds from his 5K race time that is held after the bench, after a rest.  There will be overall individual winners of both events.  The contribution to your school’s athletic booster club, based on proceeds, is determined by participation of your school’s students.  Students, faculty and staff of your school count toward your school’s participation numbers.

I will follow up with you and your school in the very near future regarding this exciting event to benefit your booster club.  If you have questions prior to that time or would like event entry forms, please contact me at: 419.348.2744 or joed@nwoortho.com.  The event registration form is available on-line at www.nwomedicine.com and www.findlaystriders.com.
